Learn how to grow your own food year round on this day course at the beautiful Hafod Estate in Ceredigion, on August 3rd 2025. 10am to 4pm

August is a key time for sowing many food crops which will provide harvests throughout the winter and into the following spring. On this course I’ll explain how to grow a productive, flourishing food garden which produces food year round, using organic, wildlife friendly and permaculture methods.

The day includes:
sowing schedules and planning
planting timings
picking for longer harvests
crop protection (including how to make your own)
growing undercover
protecting the soil from extremes of weather
making the most from your harvests
composting
green manures
and more!

Tickets are £35 (£17.50 for members of the Hafod allotmenteers) and are available to buy here. Bring a packed lunch, refreshments are available.

The event is hosted by Hafod Walled Garden Group and the ticket price is subsidised by a grant from the Cefin Croes Wind Farm Community Trust Fund.

Owned by the National Trust, the Hafod Estate is a fantastic place to visit, with extensive grounds to explore, including some spectacular waterfalls.
