Really happy to be in the June podcast from Garden OrganicĀ . I was interviewed during one stormy evening back in February, we had such a fun time. How different the world was then! I hope you enjoy the podcast, the link is here.
From Garden Organic’s website:
Join writer and grower Stephanie Hafferty, as she explores ideas of how to use plants in the home and kitchen. Based on her book (co-written with Charles Dowding) The No Dig Organic Home and Garden, Steph reveals how to use every inch of the plant ā from recipes to household cleaners ā throughout the seasons. Ever made a fizzing toilet bomb?Ā Youāll hear it here firstā¦.
Steph also hilariously reveals to Sarah that she first got growing as a teenager in order to make alcoholic wines.
āThis is the most remarkable introduction to organic growing that Iāve heardā¦..ā
And confesses that when she first heard about Dowding and No Dig, she thought it meant smoking wacky substances and just sitting watching your plot grow ā¦..
My recent blog post What Is No Dig Gardening is featured in Farm Girl Monthly, a really interesting American online magazine – I am their first international farm girl! There’s also an interview with Baker Creek Seeds, farmhouse kitchen recipes and loads more. Read it here.
It was the longest day yesterday, Happy Summer Solstice! I watched the sun rise (as much as I could!) at the allotment – the sun was behind clouds but there was a pinky glow. I made a short video which you can see on my Instagram (for some reason I can’t upload it here this morning)
So much to do in the garden today! I am rebuilding the allotment compost bays which are ancient and have fallen apart, weeding bindweed that has sneaked in during the recent wet weather, harvesting berries, planting winter brassicas and sowing chicories. Breakfast first!
